Following the widely publicized death of Polaroid film, it appears as the brand (alongside the recent appointing of Lady Gaga as creative director) will re-visit its iconic range of instant film cameras. With a ressurgence in film as of late, perhaps Polaroid will once again re-create the realm of instant film photography. The cameras will take on a retro aesthetic with a reliance on Polaroid 1000 film. A release date is slated for later this year with cameras set below the $100 USD mark.

UO will offer 700 Polaroid kits that will include a pack of instant film and a Polaroid ONE600 camera the last instant film camera the company produced. They’ll be available for sale online on August 28th, so mark your calendars. I’m sure some of us here at McJAWN, will be happy to know that Polaroids are no longer a thing of the past.

Hungry for some retro 2001 throwback, or want to finally buy the iPod your parents wouldn’t buy for you? Well, it appears that the Apple Store is selling a number of those, brand new for $129. Seems a lot to pay, but I’m sure some nerd somewhere is saying “well there’s nothing like the original mechanical scrollwheel iPod”. Ignore the picture featured, it’s wrong.

Chris Boardman, an Olympic cyclist, reveals his design for a carbon, theft, and puncture proof bicycle that looks like it’s straight out of the future. Apparently you could build one today, if you had a bajillion dollars.

If you ask me, it looks pretty awesome in this ‘this is what the future looks like’ way. Not sure if I’d actually not feel like a huge douche while riding it.

At least it comes with sweet deep v rims. Totally gotta keep up my messenger image brand.

If your going to put that much effort into virtual (is this the proper term?) skateboarding I think you might as well just skate IN REALITY. I never imagined any of this could ever exist when I was a wee young-in playing the 8-bit Mario and wondering why the princess was always getting “kidnapped” by Bowser. I think what went down was she was in cahoots with the king of the koopas and when Mario got suspicious she cried “Princess Napping”.  I hope they make a Turok for this I am definitely trying to kick some virtual dinosaur butt.

Combining bicycle safety and a sense of whimsy, Contrail is a tool that sends a colorful message to the mobile community. The small apparatus attaches to any bike’s seat tube and applies a thin layer of chalk powder in one of several colors to the rear tire.

Now that spring break has begun, I find myself not knowing what to do with all my newfound free time. Luckily I found YourFonts, a company that will take your handwriting and turn it into a free font for you to use on your computer. Just download and print the .pdf, print it, write on it, upload it, and download your font. Then inform all of your friends that hand-lettering anything is for chumps.

British scientists have designed a helmet that immerses you in a virtual reality that allegedly stimulates all five senses, eliminating essentially any reason you would have to leave your couch

What makes this device so unique is that in addition to the sight and sound experience other, lesser helmets could provide, this one also features hot and cold air fans and a “smell tube” (What a name!). It also features a device to “squirt flavors” into the wearer’s mouth.

The developers argue that the helmet will change the way students experience history, immersing children into rich historical experiences. It seems more likely it will just allow dudes to live in basements longer and enhance their porn and WoW experiences (via aforementioned smell tubes and squirting flavors).

On the other hand, like past virtual reality devices, the user will still look like a tool. Wearing this well definitely still get you beat up and your lunch money stolen.

Usually, the internet makes sense. Today it did not. Through the mysterious guidance of a complete stranger, I found myself at this oddly unique web address that seems to defy all logic and, quite frankly, freak me out a bit.

The web address has nine Ws, Jodi sounds like some secret government operative name, and the .org extension on this guy doesn’t make sense. Beyond that, the visuals are absolutely insane; like a very dyslexic version of one of Radiohead’s more eclectic sites date raped the defense computer in the Matthew Broderick classic Wargames. If that’s not enough, there are about fourteen billion places to click, nothing ever really seems to be the same, and you can’t go back unless you want to start over.

I half expect the FBI to break down my door and arrest me for stumbling upon their secret strategic plans. At least I know my chances of going to gitmo are slim.

That’s right, the world. “If you take my love of food and mix of love of entrepreneurship you get VendyTV,” says Delaney. “I have been cooking for many years and dine out at the drop of a hat. I like to try as many foods as I can get my hands on. I also want to break the stigma around street food. It is not dirty food, it is great food made by hard working people.”

The VendyTV crew has over a handful of upcoming shoots — some in Philly as well as NYC — which they are encouraging their Facebook followers to show up for. Vendy TV launches this Sunday with its very first video podcast and the debut of the finished site, something that Delaney is not taking lightly, “The launch is the scary thing because we made a commitment to put out a podcast every week. Now we have to follow through with great content on a regular basis. We are very pleased and very nervous, it’s like going in for the first kiss.” Vendy may be heartbroken, however, when they find out that the Salt Pepper Ketchup guys already got there first.

Virtual vandalism? Yes, please. Check out this prototype for a new toy from Wii, the Wii Spray. The spraypaint can-styled casing holds a hacked up Wii controller that is used to manipulate virtual graffiti on a monitor.

The use of WiiSpray is similar of using a real spray can – sans the color and the toxic smells. All you techie heads out there can make your own by simply combining Adobe Flash, a WiiFlashServer and the Nintendo Wii® device.

The idea is that it can provide some sort of social media or public tagging spectacle to allow users all over the globe to work on the same piece of art. Best of all, you can bet there are a wide variety of colors, spray caps, and tagging techniques included.

Now if you’re either too scared to actually hit up the streets or just don’t want to harm public property, you can still get a bit of the thrill of spraypaint (almost).

Based on our time so far, if you have a BlackBerry Curve, the Curve 8900 is the same thing, but better in a lot of little ways that add up to a markedly better experience overall, thanks to a gorgeous display, slicker OS and well-designed hardware.

It’s not a phone to switch to T-Mobile for—especially since it’s obviously coming to AT&T, and most probably Verizon and Sprint too—but this is the BlackBerry that most people will be rocking in the next year as it inevitably spreads from carrier to carrier, and for good reason. If you’re on T-Mobile, you really have two (good) choices for a smartphone now: This or the G1. If you do serious business, well, the choice is made for you.

Let’s gloss right over the fact that I ordered Domino’s for dinner last night—hey, I haven’t had thin crust since I was 12 and I remember it seemed like a real treat back then—and get to the part where I say that I ordered it online. I selected the “thin crust” option using their convenience-overload menu, placed my order and then BOOM! “PIZZA TRACKER.”

Yo! First they told me “Nicole” was preparing my order, and when it was time to go out they informed me that their “delivery expert, Ezequiel” (DELIVERY EXPERT!) left the shop. It was mind-blowingly useless information, but like, awesome as hell. While I do not recommend ordering Domino’s at any point, I do recommend every delivery place on the planet getting in on this hot sex.

“Please help! I took my husband’s i-phone and found a raunchy picture of him attached to an e-mail to a woman in his sent e-mail file (a Yahoo account). When I approached him about this (I think that he is cheating on me) he admitted that he took the picture but says that he never sent it to anyone. He claims that he went to the Genius Bar at the local Apple store and they told him that it is an i-phone glitch: that photos sometimes automatically attach themselves to an e-mail address and appear in the sent folder, even though no e-mail was ever sent. Has anyone ever heard of this happening? The future of my marriage depends on this answer!”

How’s this for a double-edged sword? Microsoft is providing free bus transportation to work for some of its employees in China. Hey, that’s great! It saves money as well as the environment. The downside? The bus is full of workstations, meaning everyone it picks up gets to work that much longer every day.

I mean, this is all well and good if the commute time is counted as part of the eight-hour workday or whatever, but I doubt that’s the case. Commuting is a precious time to zone out, listen to music, and fantasize about quitting your job and/or killing your boss. Don’t take that away from us, Microsoft.

The move isn’t all selfless, however, as a California judge’s ruling earlier this summer had some part in it, ordering Sprint to reimburse customers more than $73 million, stating the fees violated state law. The FCC is also preparing a plan to force wireless carriers to prorate their early exit fees.

The wireless providers maintain that the fees exist to help them recover the cost of the handsets, which are subsidized by the companies through long-term contracts, as well as to offset the costs of signing up new customers. By contrast, customer groups believe the fees are in place to discourage subscribers from finding better value at competing companies.

AT&T is blazing new trails with its Quickfire cell phone. Looking similar to T-Mobile’s Sidekick, the AT&T Quickfire boasts a large 2.8″ QVGA touchscreen display, which slides up to reveal a QWERTY keyboard for convenient text input.

Previously unveiled as the Knick, the Sidekick-like handset hides a full QWERTY keyboard behind its sliding color screen, and will support HSPA 3G data networks. It will support mobile TV and have assisted GPS capabilities and can navigate via AT&T’s Navigator service.

Otherwise, the handset will include a 1.3-megapixel camera (also records video!) and A2DP Bluetooth support for headsets is present. The 35MB of built-in memory is bolstered by a microSD card slot. Preloaded applications include mobile e-mail with easy to set up Yahoo, AOL, AIM and Windows Live Mail accounts. XM Satellite Radio programming can also be received over the Internet.

Italian company Scirocco presented a new decorative home radiator where technical innovation is combined with design and with the desire to have fun and continue having fun. Designed by architect Marco Baxadonne, Brick is a small colored block with a technological heart, a radiator in aluminum that internally conceals copper pipes and aluminum plates, making the product highly versatile and thermally efficient. But the novelties do not end here: each Brick has a double plumbing connection: one for the heating system and the other to connect the various bricks together. Prada unveiled its latest collaboration with Rem Koolhaas and AMO (the think-tank of the Office for Metropolitan Architecture) called Transformer, which “is a tetrahedron structure in lieu of a theater that will accommodate cultural, artistic and fashion events Prada is organizing. The project is led by Rem Koolhaas together with associate Kunlé Adeyemi and design architect, Alexander Reichert.” They are scheduled to take place in Seoul, South Korea located next to the 16th century Kyunghee Palace from March to July 2009.
The Transformer can be rotated on each side depending on the event, with four different facades and floor plate configurations, so that floors become walls and walls become the ceiling. Each of the four programs will function on unique steel-framed shapes: a hexagon, a cross, a rectangle and a circle. Prada Transformer will be built with the support of LG Electronics, which also makes Prada’s portable phone; Hyundai Motor Co., and real estate developer Red Resource, whose international projects include the City of Irvine in California, in collaboration with the French fashion association. The Korean automaker is also developing “a special project” with Prada, but no details were provided by the companies.

When you enable Mail Goggles, it will check that you’re really sure you want to send that late night Friday email. And what better way to check than by making you solve a few simple math problems after you click send to verify you’re in the right state of mind?

By default, Mail Goggles is only active late night on the weekend as that is the time you’re most likely to need it. Once enabled, you can adjust when it’s active in the General settings.

Hopefully Mail Goggles will prevent many of you out there from sending messages you wish you hadn’t. Like that late night memo — I mean mission statement — to the entire firm.

I found this software called Free Studio that converts movies/tv shows/music videos to .mp4 files so you can watch them on your iPhone/iTouch. You can even trim videos so you can pick certain scenes and such which is great, especially if you have a jailbroken iPhone because you can use those clips as ringtones with the video ringtones app from installer.

Free Studio even lets you convert flash files and youtube videos. It allows you to extract sounds from video files and saves them as .mp3′s and so much more. It’s definitely the best free software I’ve seen in a while and it’s easy to use. Check it out at http://www.dvdvideosoft.com/index.htm

I use Cavalier at work for dsl and the phone line. The dsl kept slowing down and not working for the past 2 weeks. Lately, the dsl works but the phone line has been giving me trouble. Today, Cavalier technicians came and checked it out. They tested every line and jack. They couldn’t figure out why it wouldn’t work.

They told me that my lines were messed up and I needed to install new wires and it was gonna cost me $116 plus $18 for every 15 minutes. I told them to go ahead because I need my business line. After they installed the new wires, they still couldn’t get the phone to work.

Two and a half hours later they concluded that my line was messed up and they would send over different technicians tomorrow to take a look. They said that this was the hardest job they had come across and they had no clue what was wrong. They didn’t bill me for the rewiring since they didn’t even fix the problem and the wiring before was most likely fine.

Now, my phone was working but my dsl was out. I was pretty heated considering I need the internet for work. After wasting 3 hours of my time, they only left me with a bigger problem.

After they left, I thought about what they were doing and realized what the problem was. It took me all of 10 minutes to figure out what was wrong and correct it. It took them 3 hours to try and figure out what was wrong and they still couldn’t figure it out. Maybe I should be a technician, I’d at least figure out what the problem is before messing around with everything for THREE HOURS!
