A Stoner’s Dream Come True: Cupcake Truck!
Fuck yeah, the infamous Philly’s Buttercream bakery will be launching their cupcake trucks all around Philly. And they are making a pit stop at Love park tomorrow (1500 Arch Street), August 28th, at noon. Tomorrow’s flavor are Banana with cream cheese, Lemon with Blueberry, Vanilla Vanilla, Chocolate Chocolate, Yellow Cake with Ganache. My Fox Philly will be there, so get your 5 seconds of fame by jumping around in the background.

Keep’s Ramo Looks Like Philly Soft Pretzels
Although, these pretzels are your typical generic pretzels that you find at the Pathmark, but wouldn’t it be cool if they had Philly soft pretzels? Don’t worry, I’ve already e-mailed Keep about my Philly soft pretzel design. Speaking of which, lets talk about those local soft pretzels. If you’ve been deceived by other soft pretzels (like the Philly Soft Pretzel Factory Inc. or WaWa), the BEST Philly soft pretzels are found at 8th and Washington. The Center City Soft Pretzel Co. usually doesn’t open until midnight, but I personally love going there after a rough night at the Royal Tavern or the Dive, especially since I practically live across the street.
So yeah, Keep’s Fall 2009 line is out and available to buy. These particular munchies are $75, a bit pricey but definitely delicious.
Watermelon + Beer = Roy Pitz Watermelon Lager

via evite blog
For all of those who love summery flavors, I had the chance last night at Cantina Dos Segundos (2nd street in Nolibs) to sample Roy Pitz’ Watermelon Lager, a light beer crafted to taste like watermelons (duh). I expected it to be disgusting and regret my foray into odd beer land, but I was pleasantly surprised when the watermelon flavor wasn’t overbearing. In fact, one only detected it as a mild aftertaste, and while it was more reminiscent of watermelon flavored jolly ranchers than actual watermelon, it was refreshing and rather tasty nonetheless.
Final Verdict: I’d drink this again, but I doubt I’d ever go so far as to buy a case. Read more about it on the brewery’s website here

Pictures From Inside the Refrigerator: You Are What You Eat (even snakes)
A photographer set out to take pictures of various people’s refrigerators in order to see if there was a correlation between their lifestyle/occupation and what was inside their fridges. The funny thing is, it does seem to make sense and HOLY SHIT IS THAT A SNAKE IN THE FREEZER?!?!?!?!

As you can see, it’s pretty awesome.

Squeez Bacon
A few years after WWII ended, a young man working in a small restaurant in Sweden developed a new way to process bacon. By precooking it and blending it in a special way, he was able to make a fully cooked 100% bacon paste that could be squeezed from a tube. Knowing he had discovered something paradigm-shifting, young Vilhelm Lillefläsk quickly went into business. That, dear friends, is when Squeez Bacon® was born. And this delicious delectable from Sweden has finally been brought over to the USA – now with American Flavor!
We’ve been working for months now with Vilhelm Lillefläsk (yes, he still runs the company!) to bring Squeez Bacon® here, and boy are we proud. Why? Because Squeez Bacon® is simply the tastiest bacon food product ever made. Did you know that it’s rumored ABBA met while eating Squeez Bacon® sandwiches? And even IKEA founder Ingvar Kamprad (we’ve heard) never travels without a case! He loves it on his American style meatballs. Ojojoj!

Vilhelm Lillefläsk’s Squeez Bacon® is fully cooked 100% bacon. Due to the patented electro-mechanical process by which Squeez Bacon® is rendered, it requires no preservatives or other additives. Each serving is as healthy as real bacon, and equivalent to 4 premium slices of bacon! You can put it on sandwiches, pizza, pastas, bacon, soups, pies, eat it hot or cold (warm Squeez Bacon® on toasted rye is to die for), substitute it for bacon in your recipes, or even eat it right out of the tube like we do! If it’s edible, it’s better with Squeez Bacon®. In the immortal words of Vilhelm Lillefläsk, “Aldrig kommer att ge dig upp!” Once you get a taste of Squeez Bacon®, you’ll know exactly what he meant.
Liven up your dull, depressing food!
Product Features
- Each tube contains 21oz (595g) of Squeez Bacon®.
- 16 servings – equivalent to 64 slices of bacon!
- Bottled in Sweden, made from U.S. bred swine.
- Shelf Life of 12 years.
- No refrigeration needed.
- Jätte gott!

New Piece of Your Life!

Cafe L’aube
I noticed this quaint new store on South Street, across the street from where I was getting my haircut. Rested between 15th and 16th Street on South, Cafe L’aube (La-aww+b) opened their doors on September 5th. They already have regulars, stopping by for light bites and, America’s number one legal addiction, COFFEE!!!
Founded by owner Jean-Luc, Cafe L’aube offers every morning commuter a variety of coffee, cappuccino, lattes… etc. that are fresh and organic! Their coffee beans are home roasted by their sister company, Peregrine. I expect Whole Foods to pick their product up soon. L’aube also has fresh hot crepes! For those who didn’t take French in school, they’re basically using Mom’s pancakes and making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich…in France. An all around inexpensive menu, $3 lattes/espressos, $5 crepes. I noticed ham & cheese, and chocolate crepes! Waffles are soon to come at this ten day old Wi-Fi Hot Spot. Yeah get your shit right! Bring your laptop and your really really small dog cuz small dogs are trendy and they have outdoor seating too! Obvi, and speaking of trendy, you’re sure to be in style by going “Green” when enjoying yourself at L’aube. Their coffee cups were made from recycled materials, and their coffee lids were made from corn. Corn! Who would have thought. Then again who cares what’s “In”, it’s a small part in helping the environment and it doesn’t hurt, cuz the coffee sleeves are ergonomically friendly. So check out Cafe L’aube!
Time to fill those bellies!!

Jawn Drink of the Week
TMunney, the one-note bartender, is here to challenge you kids to try today’s new drink I came up with. This drink is a sweet tasty spin off your traditional chocolate martini. It doesn’t taste very strong, but you can add an extra shot to taste. It’s more like a chocolate raspberry cheesecake. Sounds fancy, but really good for a snack or after a meal (or whenever you feel like it like me). You’ll need;
1 ounce/part chocolate liquor (IE: Godiva dark, or brown creme de cocoa. I used BCC cause it’s cheaper and tastes the same.)
1/2 vanilla vodka
1/2 Frangelico (or hazelnut syrup/liqueur)
1/2 Chambord (or Razzmatazz/raspberry liqueur)
Ice
Cherry
Whipped cream
Combined all liquor in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake vertically 8-10 times. Pour into a martini glass or clear glass. Drop a cherry in there with a few drops of cherry juice. This will make a layering effect which will make you look like a professional! Finally, spray some whipped cream on that sucker, and YUM! I don’t have a name for this drink but it probably has one somewhere. Later!
Frozen in Philly
Check it out… between 4th and 5th on South Street a little place of greatness opened up a few weeks ago. It’s called phileo yogurt and if it was person it would be shitting gold bricks, it’s that good. It’s a DIY frozen yogurt joint where you get your own, top your own then weigh your own froyo and pay by the ounce. The interior looks like Hello Kitty barfed all over it which is a nice change from the miserable decor of the rest of South Street . But getting down to brass tacks they have 16 flavors ranging the classics of vanilla, chocolate and strawberry to snickerdoodle and taro root (you might have to Wikipedia it, I did). Also as far as toppings are concerned they have a shit-ton, including every fruit known to mankind, cereal, candy, nuts, mochi and azuki beans. My advice to you is go and go now.
